Dean's Office Staff

Sarah E. Wald, Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor

Prior to joining the Dean’s Office in 2008, Sarah served in a number of senior administrative roles at Harvard, including Assistant Provost for Policy and Planning for the University; Assistant Dean and Dean of Students at Harvard Law School; and as Lecturer on Law at the Law School. In those roles, she worked on a wide range of issues, including academic planning, university-wide policies on commercial partnerships, the use of the Harvard name, communications strategy, and major public service initiatives at the Law School.

She has also served as Massachusetts Assistant Secretary of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation; as an Assistant Attorney General in the Massachusetts Public Protection Bureau; and as a civil rights lawyer in private practice. She is a former president of the Women’s Bar Association of Massachusetts. Sarah is a graduate of Brown University and Yale Law School.

James Burnham, Executive Assistant

Jim earned his MPA at the La Follette School of Public Affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his BS in Wildlife and Fisheries Biology from the University of Vermont.

Sarah Harre, Administrative Specialist

Before earning her MPP at the Kennedy School in 2005, Sarah worked in Washington, DC as an advocate in global health and international development. She has worked on issues related to affordable housing, participated in the organic foods movement, and interned at the World Health Organization. Sarah earned her BA in Anthropology at Yale University, where she studied American perceptions of nature and wilderness.

Marli Porth, Administrative Director

Prior to coming to the Kennedy School in 2009, Marli was the Deputy to the Chief Operating Officer at the Peabody Essex Museum. She has also worked in management consulting, higher education, and for several Members of Congress. Marli earned her BA in History from Emory University, where she studied Southern political history, and received her MPP from the Georgetown Public Policy Institute.
