January 25, 2009 - Ambassador Nicholas Burns spoke on "Foreign Policy Challenges Facing the Obama Administration." Ambassador Burns was Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs from 2005 to 2008, the United States' highest-ranking career diplomat. During his 27 year career in the US Foreign Service, Ambassador Burns also served as Ambassador to NATO, Ambassador to Greece, State Department Spokesman for Secretaries of State Madeleine Albright and Warren Christopher, Special Assistant to the President for Russia, Ukraine and Eurasia Affairs, and a member of the National Security Council staff. Currently, Ambassador Burns is Professor in the Practice of Diplomacy and International Politics at Harvard Kennedy School.
September 30, 2008 – George Robertson spoke on the "The International Security Agenda and the Future of NATO." The Right Honourable Lord Robertson of Port Ellen was the 10th Secretary General of NATO and Chairman of the North Atlantic Council from 1999 to 2003. He was Defence Secretary of the United Kingdom from 1997 to 1999 and Member of Parliament for Hamilton and Hamilton South from 1978 to 1999. Currently, Lord Robertson is Deputy Chairman of TNK-BP.
June 23, 2008 - Tony Giddens spoke on “The Politics of Climate Change.” Lord Giddens is the author of The Third Way: The Renewal of Social Democracy, The Third Way and its Critics, and Runaway World: How Globalization is Reshaping Our Lives. Professor Giddens has served as advisor to Prime Minister Tony Blair and was also the Director of the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) from 1997 to 2003.
