The Alumni Awards Committee spotlights HKS alumni making a difference with a trio of awards at the Spring Reunion Event. The Alumni Achievement Award honors significant and influential accomplishments throughout the world; the Julius E. Babbitt Alumni Volunteer Award celebrates outstanding volunteer service to Harvard, HKS, and the alumni community; and the Rising Star Award recognizes promising leadership potential within six years of graduation from HKS.
The Alumni Networks Committee helps build and maintain strong relationships with US and international associations of alumni, including informal organizations that may be moving toward a more formal structure. The Committee also supports groups of alumni looking to start an alumni network.
The Career Advancement Committee establishes volunteer teams from each regional alumni association to advise alumni and students who wish to cultivate career networks and professional relationships. This volunteer program, the HKS Alumni Directory (the online community), and JACK (the job search database) serve as essential resources for alumni and students.
The Communications Committee works to connect and engage alumni across all of the Association’s activities. This includes raising awareness of the work of the HKSAA and affiliated associations, promoting HKS services for alumni, and helping alumni serve HKS.
The Fundraising Committee works to increase alumni giving and participation and promotes opportunities for alumni to become annual contributors to the HKS mission. The Committee invites alumni to support the HKS Fund and promotes membership in the Littauer Society. To lead by example, for the past few years, 100 percent of the Board has contributed to the HKS Fund.
This proposed Innovative Connections Committee will consider new activities to keep alumni connected both to the school and to communities from the local to the international level. Connections might be considered to the HAA travel program, to Service on the Map, and to Phillips Brooks House, among other existing Harvard programs.
This committee coordinates the biannual Alumni Board Election process. This includes soliciting nominations, vetting candidates, and implementing an electronic voting process for the entire HKS alumni community. The committee will be formed at the 2011 fall meeting to facilitate the 2012 HKS Alumni Board elections.
The proposed Reunion Committee can assist the ARO in planning the details of annual reunions, as well as how to inform returning alumni about how to stay connected with their classmates and the school.
