This committee seeks, develops, and highlights alumni stories that inspire and showcase alumni contributions to HKS’ mission, to other alumni, and to HKS students. In addition to selecting and presenting Alumni Awards at the annual Reunion Weekend, the committee works with various HKS departments and programs to spotlight the achievements of HKS alumni.
HKS alumni networks, special interest groups, and chapters of Harvard Clubs bring the Kennedy School mission of public service to communities around the world. This committee helps build new associations and supports existing ones by sharing best practices and connecting alumni leaders with one another.
This committee will develop the strategic direction of the HKS Alumni Association Board, coordinate its activities, and oversee its operations. Through the board, it will ensure that the association pursues its mission effectively. The committee will serve as the association’s primary liaison with the Kennedy School, steward any necessary changes to the board’s constitution and bylaws, and maintain awareness of alumni fundraising activities while offering assistance to increasing the amount and percentage of alumni financial support.
This committee conducts outreach to current students and alumni from all programs to strengthen their connections to HKS and facilitate their active participation in the global alumni community. It will create a group of HKS alumni ambassadors to assist the school in many areas, including: organizing and attending local HKS events, engaging potential students, mentoring students and recent graduates, participating in alumni surveys, serving on reunion committees, building new local and regional networks, occasionally representing the HKS community in local events, and working on special projects as they develop.
This committee will be formed in the second half of 2013 to facilitate the 2014 HKSAA elections.
The nominations and elections committee coordinates the biannual Alumni Board election process. This includes soliciting nominations, vetting candidates, and implementing an electronic voting process for the entire HKS alumni community.
This committee helps alumni and current students with career networking opportunities. It offers introductions to potential employers, access to job postings and mentoring programs, and job-finding skill-set enhancement. The HKS alumni directory (the online community) and JACK (the job search database) serve as essential resources for alumni and students.
Consistent with the HKS mission and our shared values, this committee will promote engagement of the entire HKS community of more than 50,000 alumni and students in public service. Working with HKS, the committee will develop innovative programs inviting alumni to collaborate in addressing challenging public issues. In addition, it will organize alumni participation in the global month of service and other activities to benefit communities on a local, national, and international level.
The proposed Reunion Committee can assist the ARO in planning the details of annual reunions, as well as how to inform returning alumni about how to stay connected with their classmates and the school.
