The Alumni Achievement Award was instituted in 1997. This award is intended to be given annually to identify and publicly honor HKS graduates worldwide as they develop their careers. HKS alumni work in a variety of arenas including but not limited to public service, the private sector, and non-governmental entities. An alumnus/a receiving this award may make a significant contribution at the local, state/provincial, or national/international level. Nominees represent both people with high-profile careers and those who have been doing quieter work in the trenches. Making a difference may take various forms. Examples include, but are not limited to, a single important and influential change, an influential difference in a chosen field, or making a significant contribution to one’s community, agency, or cause, or a series of smaller events which taken together create a significant impact in the lives of people.
