Albert Carnesale is the Lucius N. Littauer Professor of Public Policy and Administration Emeritus and is a member of the Board of the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs. At UCLA, he is Chancellor Emeritus and Professor of Public Policy and of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. His research focuses on issues in international affairs and security with emphasis on issues associated with nuclear weapons and with climate change. He is the author or coauthor of six books and more than 100 scholarly articles. Prior to UCLA, Carnesale was at Harvard for 23 years, serving as Provost from 1994 to 1997. At the HKS, he was the Lucius N. Littauer Professor, and served as Academic Dean (1981-1991), and Dean (1991-1995). He holds BS and MS degrees in mechanical engineering and a PhD in nuclear engineering, has been awarded three honorary doctorate degrees, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
