Luciana Herman, Lecturer in Public Policy, has taught writing and political rhetoric courses over the past fifteen years at Harvard and the University of California, Berkeley. In addition to policy writing and public speaking, her academic interests include American political rhetoric, racial formation, and immigration policy. Following work on Capitol Hill in the area of water policy, Dr. Herman earned her PhD in English at the University of California, Berkeley. She has supervised the freshman writing program at U.C. Berkeley and served as a Head Preceptor in the Harvard College Expository Writing Program and as the Acting Resident Dean of Cabot House. As a senior resident tutor at Quincy House, Dr. Herman also advises undergraduates on fellowship opportunitites and funding for public service projects. She is now completing a book manuscript focusing on U.S. policy and political party formation in reponse to the Haitian Revolution.
