Morgan McVicar is Adjunct Lecturer in Public Policy. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia and master's degrees from the Goethe Institute in Munich, the University of Missouri School of Journalism and Harvard Kennedy School (MC/MPA 2003).
Prior to becoming a reporter, McVicar taught at Josef Effner Gymnasium in Dachau and Pestalozzi Gymnasium in Munich. While teaching in Germany, he served on the curriculum committee of the Bavarian Ministry of Education.
McVicar worked as a reporter, columnist and essayist at The Anniston Star in Alabama, the Sunday Times of London and the Providence Journal. He won more than a dozen national and regional writing awards and was nominated twice for the Pulitzer Prize. He has written for the Columbia Journalism Review, The Boston Globe and Quill Magazine.
After graduating from HKS, McVicar taught The Press & Propaganda at Emerson College and Newswriting & Reporting and Journalism Principles & Techniques at Boston University. Since 2008, he has been writing consultant at HKS.
