Each year the Conference Steering Committee, with the assistance of the Alumni & Faculty Advisory Boards, selects two outstanding individuals to honor for their commitment and dedicattion to public service. The awards are the Julius E. Babbitt Alumni Service Award and the Donald M. Stewart Alumni Achievement Award.

| This award will is given to a KSG graduate who has modeled public service both inside and outside of the work environment. The nominee must have contributed time, talent, and/or resources to benefit the greater public and/or the Black community specifically. The nominee should have initiated or led charitable efforts within his or her community or organization, and taken a leading role in solving problems. |

This award will is given to a KSG graduate who has made a profound difference in improving service to the public over the course of his or her career. The nominee’s work must have produced tangible benefits that contributed to the overall well-being of his or her community. He or she must have served as a champion for social equity, and advocated on behalf of underrepresented or underserved groups. Nominees must be individuals who, in deed and action, reflect the ideals of the Kennedy School of Government and should exhibit continuing commitment to the Kennedy School community. |
Past recipients have included Debre Lee, CEO & Chairman of BET and Anthony Williams, Former Mayor of Washington, DC from 1999 to 2007.
