Legalizing Laetrile:
Legislative and Bureaucratic Dilemmas in State Regulation

This case describes the legalization of Laetrile by the New Jersey
legislature and the subsequent resistance by the state health
department. It considers both the policy dilemma of whether a
democratic government ought to resist the market freedoms of citizens
for their own good, and the process dilemma of whether legislators and
bureaucrats should use their discretion according to their own moral
judgment.
