Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Declaration of Human Rights
The 30 articles of the Declaration were projected onto buildings in Harvard Yard, Harvard Law School, and Harvard's Kennedy School from 5-10 pm on December 8-10. The installation was a joint project of The University Committee on Human Rights, the Carr Center for Human Rights Policy, and the Film Study Center.
60.30.1 consisted of eleven exterior sites throughout the three campuses, which displayed a different article each of the three nights. As the texts penetrate our living and working spaces, we are asked to think about the ways our rights are defined, granted, and limited every day. The stenciled spray paint look simulates graffiti on the surfaces - representing how it has become subversive to talk about basic rights that should be guaranteed to everyone. A short animation of the whole declaration on the side of Widener Library [VIEW THIS ANAMATION] invites people to gather and remember the 60th anniversary of this important document.
