UN Independent Expert on the Human Rights to Water and Sanitation Visits Boston
On Friday, February 25, 2011, the UN Independent Expert on the issue of human rights obligations related to access to safe drinking water and sanitation, Catarina de Albuquerque, heard testimony from community members living in the greater Boston area who face problems with their water and sanitation services. The hearing took place at the Church on the Hill, 140 Bowdoin Street, near Beacon Hill in Boston (see photos below). Click here to read more about the Independent Expert's schedule.
During the Independent Expert's visit to Washington, DC, the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission of the United States House of Representatives will be holding a hearing on Realizing the Right to Safe Water and Sanitation on Thursday, March 3, 2011 from 10am - 12pm. Click here for more information.
