2013, Fall

Study Group

Disability Rights & Realities

This study group will explore the rights and realities of people with disabilities
in the U.S. and abroad. We will read and hear from a diverse group of people,
abled and disabled, working on these issues from many different vantage points
including activists, attorneys, scholars, UN officials, foundations, people who
run institutions and people who are housed in them, as well as policy makers
and parents. We will use the Convention for People with Disabilities as well as
the first ever World Report on Disability, produced by WHO and the World
Bank, to understand why more than a billion people or one is six experience
