Tom Gleeson, PhD Assistant Professor and CIFAR Junior Fellow Civil Engineering, McGill University

Title: From global groundwater depletion to the sustainable use of groundwater systems.

About the talk: The talk will focus on a tool, called the groundwater footprint, and its use around the world. It is the subject of a recent article that Professor Gleeson and his colleagues published in Nature.

Biography:

Professor Gleeson is a hydrogeologist interested in groundwater sustainability, regional- to continental-scale groundwater systems, groundwater-surface water interactions and fluid flow around geologic structures. He addresses these varied research interests by integrating disciplines that are not often combined: field methods, numerical modeling, environmental chemistry, structural geology, GIS and policy studies. His main goal is fundamental and applied research to enable sustainable groundwater use.
