September 21, 2011 Attendance exceeded expectations at the recent 'Building a Strategy for Human Rights Education in U.S. Schools' conference. Coordinated by Carr Center Fellow and leader of the Center's new Human Rights Education Initiative, Felisa Tibbitts, the two-day event brought together over 70 educators, students, union representatives, scholars and policymakers to discuss strategies for promoting human rights in the U.S. schooling system. At the conclusion of the conference, attendees agreed to initiate a new human rights education network in the U.S. and an initial Steering Committee was formed. HREA.org
