RELIGIOUS LIBERTY "VS" SEXUAL FREEDOM?
Ann Pellegrini is Associate Professor of Performance Studies and Religious Studies at New York University, where she also directs NYU's Center for the Study of Gender and Sexuality. Her books include Performance Anxieties: Staging Psychoanalysis, Staging Race (Routledge 1997) and Love the Sin: Sexual Regulation and the Limits of Religious Tolerance (Beacon 2004), the latter co-authored with Janet R. Jakobsen. A new co-authored book (with Michael Bronski and Michael Amico) -- You Can Tell Just By Looking and Twenty Other Myths about LGBT Life and People -- will be published by Beacon Press in fall 2013. In 2012-13 she is a resident fellow at Harvard's Charles Warren Center for Studies in American History, where she is completing a new solo book, Excess & Enchantment: Queer Performance Between the Religious and the Secular.
