Henry AbeloveHenry Abelove

F.O. Matthiessen Visiting Professor of Gender and Sexuality, Harvard University

Henry Abelove is the co-editor of The Lesbian and Gay Studies Reader, which won the Lambda Prize, and he is the author of The Evangelist of Desire and Deep Gossip.

At Wesleyan University, where he taught for many years, first in the History Department, then in the English Department, he won the Binswanger Prize for Excellence in Teaching. At Princeton University, he served as the Stanley Kelly, Jr., Visiting Professor for Distinguished Teaching. He has taught also at Brown University, New York University, Trinity College, and Yale University.

He is presently working on two books -- one on colonialist fantasies in the eighteenth-century Atlantic world, another on the intellectual and cultural dimensions of the gay liberation movement in New York City.
