This workshop will help you gain an analytical framework for understanding why poverty persists and how economic analysis can help identify best policy avenues. The course will focus on seven key thematic areas: health, education, microfinance, entrepreneurship, governance, gender and urbanization. You will question popular clichés and gain invaluable insights on the key challenges facing developing countries, effective strategies for sustainable development in low-income settings and evaluation design to measure impact of development policies. The workshop will help prepare you for internships, jobs or research in developing countries and help you be a more effective contributor abroad.
- Learn first-hand from research policy engagements that HKS professors have with governments, NGO and other partners (e.g. USAID, DFID, World Bank) designing, implementing and evaluating development programs and policies
- Build your skill-set for future opportunities in international development
- Gain access to and information on job, internship and potential funding opportunities in the field of international development
- Receive guidance on your future career or research plans in international development and feedback on a project idea of your choice
