Please note that the deadline to submit a fellowship application is the same as the general financial assistance application deadline, towards the end of February 2015. The exact date will be determined in late 2014.
The Dubin Emerging Leader Fellowships are made possible by a generous donation from Glenn Dubin, CEO and co-founder of Highbridge Capital Management and founding board member of the Robin Hood Foundation.
Designed to support global emerging leaders, the Dubin Fellowships are awarded to students entering their first year in any of the HKS masters degree programs. Dubin Fellows will receive up to full tuition and health fees for up to two years, depending on the length of their graduate degree program. Fellows are eligible for a stipend up to $5000 to support unpaid summer internships or professional development. Dubin Fellows will participate in a robust cocurricular program offered by the Center for Public Leadership.
Successful applicants will demonstrate their potential as emerging leaders by evidencing strong character, excellent academic credentials, a commitment to pursue a career with transformative impact on society, and the ability to thrive and lead in the face of adversity.
This fellowship is open to students entering their first year of study in any of the Harvard Kennedy School's masters degree programs. Both domestic and international students are eligible to apply.
Fellows are selected based on outstanding merit, but awards will not exceed demonstrated financial need, as determined by the Kennedy School's Student Financial Services. Two-year degree program students will receive funding for both academic years, as well as support for unpaid summer internships, contingent upon the successful completion of year one. Active participation in the weekly cocurricular program is a requirement of all fellows for the duration of their award.
To be considered, candidates must fill out a fellowship application through the MYFAID website, including:
Two letters of recommendation are required to support the application and should be written or tailored specifically for the fellowship.
Please note that there is only one upload button for both recommendations. If you are in receipt of both recommendations please scan into one PDF prior to submission.
If the provider(s) of your recommendation would prefer to submit the letter directly, they may email it to the attention of Jennifer Firneno at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please make sure your recommender clearly indicates that it is for the Dubin Fellowship. If your recommender prefers to send a hard copy, it can be mailed to:
Harvard Kennedy School, Center for Public Leadership
79 JFK Street, Box 124
Cambridge, MA 02138.
If your recommender is submitting his or her letter to Jennifer, rather than being uploaded through the MYFAID website, please submit a document in the “Additional Information” field to indicate the letter is being sent directly to Jennifer Firneno.
Finalists for the Dubin Fellowship will be asked to come to Harvard Kennedy School (if local) or call in for a phone interview with members of the Dubin Fellowship Selection Committee. Finalists will receive an invitation via email which will provide more detailed information. Information regarding the interviews will not be available prior to that time.
Please Note: the fellowship review process requires that we be able to electronically compile your submitted materials into a single document. It is imperative, therefore, that none of the documents you submit be protected by passwords or any other means. For example, documents submitted as PDFs should be configured to permit edits, changes and copying. If the fellowship for which you are applying requires you to submit a letter from a recommender, please remind your recommender not to protect these documents. If you do submit protected documents you risk not being considered for the fellowship for which you have applied.
Questions about the application, guidelines, or eligibility requirements of the Dubin Fellows Program for Emerging Leaders or questions about the cocurricular program should be directed to the Dubin Fellowship Selection Committee via Jennifer Firneno at (617) 496-4764 or by email to email@example.com.
