Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 5:45 p.m.
Bell Hall, 5th floor, Belfer Building, Corner of JFK and Eliot Streets
Joshua Goodman, Assistant Professor of Policy, Harvard Kennedy School
Respondent: Rep. Tom Sannicandro, (D-Ashland), Chair of the Massachusetts Legislature's Joint Committee on Higher Education
Goodman will discuss his recent research on the state’s Adams Scholarship program, which waives tuition at such colleges for high achievers and was intended to inspire student achievement while keeping high-performing scholars in Massachusetts. He also will address the surprising findings of the study—that winning the scholarship actually lowers a student's chances of graduating from college on time.
Representative Tom Sannicandro will offer commentary on the findings and participate in discussion with the audience following the presentation.
Co-sponsored by: The Harvard Kennedy School’s Taubman Center for State and Local Government and The Rappaport Institute for Greater Boston.
