I am a joint-degree student in the MPA/ID-MBA program at Harvard Kennedy School and Harvard Business School. The MPA/ID has been a fantastic experience so far! It has expanded my mind by helping me understand the wide range of potential interventions to promote economic development and by introducing me to the interesting world of impact evaluation. Although I had experience in international development before coming to school, Harvard offers a fast-paced learning environment about the topics I am passionate about.
In a personal area, I have been involved in multiple learning experiences outside the classroom. During the winter I traveled in a Harvard-sponsored trip across 5 countries in Asia, where we had meetings with different CEOs and politicians of the region to understand their challenges to promote growth. I am also part of the International Development Conference, the Latin American Conference, and the Association of Mexican Students (HUMAS) where I have found a group of people with similar interests, who challenge my assumptions, and who help me understand problems from a different perspective. As you see, the MPA/ID has been a quite rewarding experience in just one semester!
Before enrolling in the MPA/ID Program, Rafael worked as a Business Analyst with McKinsey and Company in the offices of Mexico and India, and then with the McKinsey Center for Government in Nigeria and Saudi Arabia. He graduated from Tecnólogico de Monterrey with a B.A. in Economics.
