Once you have discovered which career paths you would like to pursue, it is time to learn where you want to go and how to position yourself to get there.

Intentional, informed networking is the key to finding the right positions for nearly all HKS students and alumni. With a range of interests and a wealth of skills and talents, HKS students and alumni are primed to contribute to a seemingly endless number of industries, policy areas, sectors and organizations. While many people find positions through on-campus recruiting events and interviews, many more secure positions after implementing a tailored strategy for networking with key contacts and employers.

There are many ways to gather information and build your network. At OCA, as well as through other Harvard career offices, a number of industry-targeted Career Networking Fairs are held throughout the year. These provide an invaluable opportunity to meet many employers (often HKS and Harvard alumni representatives) in one day. Our Industry Gateway Sessions will bring alumni and other practitioners to the school for career discussions on trends and opportunities in their fields. Connecting with classmates who share your interests through student Professional Interest Councils (PIC) will allow you to make essential contacts and get directly involved in career programming at the school. And, as networking continues to thrive online, we invite you to join the HKS group on LinkedIn.

And of course, there is a vast HKS alumni network across the globe. Both students and alumni may search the Alumni Directory. An online community, reunions, and other programming are available to alumni through the Office of Alumni Relations.

At HKS, there are many opportunities to network and connect. Always come prepared and in a professional state of mind and dress.
