Summer Internship Fund

The Summer Internship Fund (SIF), founded in 1985, is a student and staff partnership created to give Harvard Kennedy School students the opportunity to gain experience in the public or non-profit sector during the summer with organizations only able to provide unpaid or minimally paid internships.

Funds for SIF come from a variety of sources including an annual benefit auction, individual contributions and a generous grant from Dean David Ellwood.

SIF’s goals are:

  • To enable Kennedy School students to pursue meaningful public service internships that would otherwise be unaffordable
  • To provide public service organizations constrained by limited resources with the skills and energy of Kennedy School students
  • To provide working proof of the Kennedy School of Government’s commitment to the value of public service.

Current students should apply online for summer internships funding through SIF.

Please contact the internship coordinator with questions.
