Summer Internships

Gain Experience and Improve Your Network

Most Harvard Kennedy School students in two-year degree programs gain valuable experience, put their training and skills to work, learn about fields of interest, and begin valuable new professional relationships by pursuing meaningful public service internships in the summer between their first and second year.

The Office of Career Advancement (OCA) assists students seeking internships with:

  • individual counseling, group orientation sessions, and networking events,
  • a database of summer internships undertaken by students,
  • employer visits,
  • a wealth of internship job postings in our job bank, and
  • information about HKS summer funding opportunities.

In addition, OCA manages the Dukakis Governors' Summer Fellows Program, which places students in ten-week internships in governors' offices around the U.S.

Summer internships help students gain valuable experience, develop new skills, and learn about fields of interest.
