Cross-registration for Non-HKS Students

Pre-registration is not offered for students who wish to cross-register into a course at Harvard Kennedy School. The Office of the Registrar will not accept signed petitions until all HKS students have been accommodated. To enroll in HKS courses, you should do the following:

  1. Pick up a cross-registration petition from your school, or from the university cross-registration web site.
  2. Attend the first class meeting of the course you have selected. Have the course instructor sign your petition.
  3. Submit the signed petition to the HKS Office of the Registr, Belfer, L-1 in Weil Town Hall. We will process it and return the appropriate copy to your school. You are not officially enrolled in a HKS course until your school's registrar receives a confirmation from HKS.

Note:  HKS does not offer Audit as a grading option. If you submit a petition to our office with the instructors signature, you will be enrolled in the course for credit and receive a letter grade.

Enrollment may be limited in some courses. If the class you wish to take is oversubscribed, or requires special permission, please check with the Office of the Registrar for procedures.

We will not accept cross-registration petitions without the signature of the instructor. Incomplete forms will be returned to you unprocessed.
