Please note: These courses are counted as Spring courses and will appear on your official Harvard Kennedy School transcript in the Spring semester. Students may not sign up for more than one January class (including cross-registered classes).

Initial enrollment is online through SMART as in the fall.  Any oversubscribed course will require bidding.  The Registrar’s Office will let you know if you need to bid on a course and by how much it is oversubscribed.  For detailed instructions see online enrollment and bidding.

The instructors will provide details about prerequisites and/or other requirements for consideration for their courses.  With regards to STM-230 students must have taken either STM-221 or -222, or a Harvard Law School or MIT negotiation course as the prerequisite.  STM-230 and HLS’s 44100A (or 44100-21), Winter Negotiation Workshop, may not both be taken for credit.

Paper add/drop begins; begin accepting cross-registration petitions

Dec. 6

Drop deadline (without notation)

First day of class

Add deadline, drop deadline (with notation)

Last day of class

Final withdraw deadline (with notation)

Should you drop a January course after the drop deadline (with notation), you will receive a WD (withdraw) notation on your transcript.  Students enrolled in a course who do not attend and fail to drop it will receive an ABS (absent from the final examination) notation on their transcript.
