At the beginning of the 21st century, many of the worlds nations are engaged in serious efforts to reform their governments. This course is a review of government reform and modernization efforts around the world. It deals with the most common areas in need of reform and innovation such as civil service, regulation, service delivery, and the fight against corruption. It looks at innovations that involve the use of information technology, performance management, and competition to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of government. In addition to class lectures and discussions, the course features government innovators from around the world who can discuss their own innovations.
