FAQ's
Moves
can be categorized into three general cases: new employees, transferring
(internal) employee, and departing employee.
Below is a common checklist to think about if you are moving:
-
PHONES - Phone orders take a minimum of ten days to process.
This can be even longer during the summer months. If you or someone
you supervise is moving notify your phone point person immediately.
If you have further questions, contact Francisco Ventura at 495-8951.
- COMPUTER
- Contact your FAS. Neither Facilities nor ITS supply
computers for new employees. It is the responsibility of the supervising
department.
- FURNITURE
- As a general rule, we move people not furniture. This
means on moving day we will move all papers and books as well
as computer set-up. Your desk, shelves and files remain. All offices
at the Kennedy School are equipped with a desk, chair, files,
and shelves, which are often customized to the building or particular
office. If we can accommodate requests from storage to modify
a room set-up, we are happy to do so. If there is no furniture
available and the request is beyond KSG standards or growth is
determined by the department, the department will be responsible
for purchasing new or used furniture.
Facilities will transfer small sized furniture at your request.
Please fill out the Building Service Request form on Lotus Notes
or click on the Building Service Request form in the General Service
Section of this website. If there is heavy moving (i.e. desks)
or moving across city streets, we will require the department
to use a bonded union moving company approved by the University.
If it is very small, you may sign out a two-wheel dolly with Building
Services 495-1306.
- BOXES
- Facilities provides boxes for on-campus moves only. Boxes should
not be used for personal use or cross campus transfers.
- OFF
CAMPUS MOVES: The Kennedy School is not responsible
for moving employees off
campus or to other schools at Harvard. Harvard University recommends
the following local move companies that you are welcome to contact
on your own:
