Children’s Health Coverage
Resources
This new module presents data and policy resources on
trends in children’s coverage and the importance of health insurance for
children. The issue module includes references on how public programs like
Medicaid and SCHIP cover kids, the impact of these programs over the past
decade, and challenges with outreach, enrollment and financing. Key
organizations that conduct research and make policy recommendations on
reauthorization are provided.
In this companion tutorial, Robin Rudowitz, M.P.A.,
principal policy analyst, Kaiser Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured,
discusses children's health coverage, focusing on the role of Medicaid and SCHIP
in covering low-income children. Rudowitz also addresses financing issues facing
SCHIP and the key issues for policymakers debating the program’s
reauthorization.
