Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières USA
Wednesday, October 6, 2010
3.00 pm – 4.30 pm
Bell Hall (5th floor, Belfer Building)
Harvard Kennedy School
Moderated by:
Sally Chin, Program Director, Mass Atrocity Response Operations Project
Carr Center for Human Rights Policy
Sophie Delaunay will reflect on the ongoing confusion between humanitarian actors and governments operating in today’s most brutal conflicts. Drawing on her recent experiences in Pakistan near the border with Afghanistan, she will explore the problems created when warring parties blur the lines that separate independent humanitarian aid and policies to win hearts and minds. In the same vein, she will address how the involvement of humanitarian actors in the Responsibility to Protect (R2P) concept endangers their ability to conduct independent humanitarian action.
Organized by the Humanitarian & Development NGOs Domain of Practice
