China
Nonprofit Organization Leadership Visitor
Program
The Domain for Nonprofit Organizations in China has created
the China Nonprofit Organization Leadership Visitor Program
to provide a platform at Harvard University for visiting
nonprofit leaders from China to interact with scholars and
students from Harvard University, and other universities at
the Greater Boston area.
Visiting China nonprofit organization leaders can stay at
Harvard University for up to a week for interacting with
scholars and students. During their stay, the Domain will
actively undertake the following approaches to facilitate
the interactions:
• Organizing public speaking event
• Facilitating individual faculty and NPO leader meeting
• Creating students and NPO leader discussion group
• Holding Job, internship and volunteer opportunity event
• Coordinating NPO leader issue consultation session with
selected scholars
• Facilitating site visits to local American organizations
by visiting China NPO leaders
The benefits go two ways. On the one hand, the Chinese
nonprofit leaders will gain access to leading scholars from
a broad range of disciplines at Harvard University and
beyond. The opportunities to reflect and learn with leading
scholars will help them on managing their organizations
back home.
Having strategically positioned as an interdisciplinary
center at the university level, Hauser has built, over the
last decade, collaborative relations with different schools
and departments at Harvard on topics relating to nonprofit
organizations. To enhance the China nonprofit organization
leaders’ knowledge exposure, Hauser Center will help bridge
the nonprofit leaders to:
1. Scholars with expertise in nonprofit organizations in
general
2. Scholars familiar with cases and best practices of
nonprofit organizations from other part of the world
3. Scholars with insights and understanding into the
Chinese society, politics, culture and history in general
On the other hand, students and scholars at Harvard
University, and other universities in the Greater Boston
Area will gain first-hand exposure to the reality of the
rising nonprofit sector in China. The knowledge and
connection gained from the interaction will help with the
scholar’s academic exploration, research, internship or
career orientation.
