Nonprofit Executive Education Programs

We have been building curricula for nonprofit leaders for over 10 years at HKS for use in both degree program courses and executive education. We frequently work in partnership with the Harvard Business School on our courses. The demands of nonprofit leadership are greater than ever. The challenges of our times are complex, interrelated, and urgent, requiring new thinking as well as nontraditional alliances. We have placed special priority over the last few years to create greater access to our programs and curricula for nonprofit professionals from around the world.
Our nonprofit Executive Education programs focus on giving leaders the skills and analytical understanding necessary to manage and lead results-driven agencies and organizations, and to better serve their communities. We plan to continue to grow this portfolio over the next few years.
Performance Measurement for Effective Management of Nonprofit Organizations, offered in collaboration with Harvard Business School, provides leaders with the knowledge and skills to develop and implement performance measures that will help them to achieve their missions.
Strategic Management for Leaders of Non-Government Organizations is designed to give leaders the tools, perspectives, and frameworks needed to strengthen their organizations, engage constituent communities, and cultivate long-term partnerships and commitments. The program is designed and taught by Harvard faculty and researchers and offered in Athens, Greece.
Harvard Kennedy School Executive Education also offers ONLINE Executive Education programs designed to reach an audience from around the world, who, given the costs and distances, are not able to attend residential Executive Education programs offered by Harvard Kennedy School:
Strategic Frameworks for Nonprofit Organizations is an online program designed to help nonprofit and non-governmental organization leaders in the developing world use strategic management frameworks to improve their organizations.
Nonprofit Financial Stewardship is an online program designed to help managers in nonprofit and non-governmental organizations understand the tools, techniques, and concepts of good financial management.
Governance as Leadership: Reframing the Work of Nonprofit Boards is an online program designed for senior executives who are seeking innovative ways to tap into the full array of talent and energy within their boards. In place of the “micro-governing” that increasingly confines boards to routine, sometimes marginal work, students will explore governance as a form of leadership.
Expanding Non-Governmental Organization Impact is an online program that offers NGO leaders the opportunity to sharpen their visions and think strategically about how to build capacity in a sustainable manner, giving their organizations a greater impact on society by cultivating clarity of purpose and flexibility.
Organizing: People, Power, and Change is an online program designed to help leaders of civic associations, advocacy groups and social movements learn how to organize communities that can mobilize power to make change.
