Frequently Asked Questions

How do I apply to PPLC?

Through our online application. The online application allows you to submit your application form, personal statement, resume, and application recommendation online. You may also upload a scanned copy of your transcript, or have a copy mailed directly to the Harvard Kennedy School. Please refer to our mailing address on the Contact page.

Who is eligible to apply?

U.S. citizens and permanent residents in their first or second year of undergraduate studies. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0, and an interest in public service.

When is the application deadline?

The deadline for the next PPLC conference is November 16, 2012.

When will I receive an admissions decision?

Applicants will be notified via email in January 2013.

What do I need to submit in order to complete my application?

A completed application includes an application form, resume, essay, recommendation, and transcript.

How long is the personal statement essay?

The personal statement essay should be no longer than 500 words, typed and double-spaced.

Who should write my letter of recommendation?

Your letter of recommendation should come from a faculty member or administrator at your college. Only first year students may instead request a letter of recommendation from a high school teacher.

Is there an application fee?

There is no application fee for the PPLC conference.

Who is responsible for the travel arrangements of participants?

The Harvard Kennedy School Office of Admissions schedules and pays for travel arrangements for all participants from their home universities (in the U.S.) to the Harvard Kennedy School.

How long is the conference?

Participants arrive on Thursday, February 21, and depart on Sunday morning, February 24, 2013.
