How do I apply to PPLC?

Submit your online application to the 2016 PPLC by Tuesday, November 10, 2015. You may submit your application form, résumé, personal statement essay, and letter of recommendation online. You may also upload a scanned copy of your academic transcript, or have a copy mailed directly to Harvard Kennedy School.


Who is eligible to apply?

U.S. citizens and permanent residents in their first or second year of undergraduate studies. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and an interest in public service.


When is the application deadline?

Applications to the 2016 PPLC are due Tuesday, November 10, 2015


When will I receive an admissions decision?

Applicants will be notified via email in January 2016.


What do I need to submit to complete my application?

A completed application includes an application form, résumé, personal statement essay, letter of recommendation, and academic transcript.


How long is the personal statement essay?

The personal statement essay should be no longer than 500 words, typed and double-spaced.


Who should write my letter of recommendation?

Your letter of recommendation should come from a faculty member or administrator at your college or university. Only first-year students may request a letter of recommendation from a high school teacher.


Is there an application fee?

No, there is no PPLC application fee.


Who is responsible for participants' travel arrangements?

Harvard Kennedy School's Office for Student Diversity and Inclusion schedules and covers the cost for travel arrangements for all participants from their home universities in the United States to HKS.


How long is the conference?

Participants arrive Thursday, February 18 and depart Sunday morning, February 21, 2016.
