How do I apply to PPLC?

Applications will soon be available for PPLC 2016. You may submit your application form, personal statement, resume, and application recommendation through the online application system. You may also upload a scanned copy of your transcript, or have a copy mailed directly to the Harvard Kennedy School using the mailing address listed here.

 

Who is eligible to apply?

U.S. citizens and permanent residents in their first or second year of undergraduate studies. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and an interest in public service.

 

When is the application deadline?

The 2015 application deadline will be posted soon.

 

When will I receive an admissions decision?

Applicants will be notified via email in January 2016.

 

What do I need to submit to complete my application?

A completed application includes an application form, resume, essay, recommendation, and transcript.

 

How long is the personal statement essay?

The personal statement essay should be no longer than 500 words, typed and double-spaced.

 

Who should write my letter of recommendation?

Your letter of recommendation should come from a faculty member or administrator at your college. Only first-year students may instead request a letter of recommendation from a high school teacher.

 

Is there an application fee?

No, there is no PPLC application fee.

 

Who is responsible for participants' travel arrangements?

Harvard Kennedy School's Office of Student Diversity and Inclusion schedules and covers the cost for travel arrangements for all participants from their home universities (in the U.S.) to HKS.

 

How long is the conference?

Participants arrive on Thursday, February 18, and depart on Sunday morning, February 21, 2016.
