Social Policy Entrepreneurship: Changing the World One
Big Idea at a Time No Holes Barred: A Discussion of Politics and Policy
with Governor Perdue
In this first Session of the Study Group we will explore the
role the political climate, the big idea, and the individual leader
have on successful social entrepreneurship. Is it necessary
with big ideas to have an initial launch that often does not
succeed (ie, health care over fifty years, climate change, military
service for all people, ) or does the individual leader cause the
immediate success (Facebook or Google). Discuss the ability
of policy changes to improve or harm the lives of others. In
addition, can innovation be the driver for global social change
(Bill and Malinda Gates Foundation}.
Is it the big idea or the power of the individual leader or
organization that causes social innovation to take root?
Finally, can social policy innovations cause economic fallout, or
negative massive disruption of existing
systems?
