The art of writing op-eds and columns.
Social and political commentary is ubiquitous, but how many writers
truly understand what it means to write persuasively, to convince
readers who disagree fundamentally with their position to pause and
reconsider?
Often, writers preach to the choir, presenting arguments that
resonate with like minds but win few converts.
In this workshop, we will talk about ways to construct a
strong argument and deconstruct effective op-eds and columns and
examine a few less effective pieces to get at what it means to
write persuasively.
