Haight Named Senior Associate Dean for Alumni Relations and Resource Development

April 30, 2012

Harvard Kennedy School has announced the appointment of Charles Haight as the school's new Senior Associate Dean for Alumni Relations and Resource Development. Haight will lead the School’s development initiatives and oversee alumni relations beginning in July 2012. He will also serve as a member of Dean David Ellwood's leadership team.
Currently vice president for development at Mount Holyoke College, Haight has overseen two major campaigns, directing both the $257 million comprehensive campaign completed in December of 2003 and the College’s current campaign to raise $300 million.
"Haight brings with him strong management skills, sound judgment and a wealth of experience, including a solid track record in development and capital campaigns," said Dean Ellwood. "He is also known as a collaborative colleague and strong relationship builder. Working with a range of diverse communities, Charlie has secured significant philanthropic resources for the institutions he has served."
Before joining Mount Holyoke, Haight was vice president for development and external affairs at Hobart and William Smith Colleges from 1993 to 1996. Prior to that, he held various posts in the Yale University Development Office, including assistant and then associate director of the Campaign for Yale, director of development and alumni affairs at the Yale School of Organization and Management, and director of major gifts for Yale University.
Haights is active in his community, serving on the board of the Hitchcock Center for the Environment and, for many years, as a host parent through A Better Chance, a national residential high school program that prepares talented African American, Latino, Asian, and Native American students from educationally underserved school districts for college and future leadership roles in the broader community.
A graduate of Springfield College, Haight resides in Amherst.
