Computer Purchasing Recommendations

A personal computer is a required for all students at the Kennedy School. We've put together the following information to help students purchase the appropriate computer. The link below, maintained by the lab staff, will guide you should you decide to purchase a new computer before coming to HKS.

Harvard Discounts

Personal Purchases - get special prices through Harvard for your personal use on Lenovo products and peripherals from GovConnection. You need a Harvard PIN to order, first time users will have to register with Lenovo.

New students will be able to request a PIN once their Harvard ID number is emailed to them in June.

 

 

Will my Current Computer Suffice?

New students often wonder if their current computer will be adequate for use at the Kennedy School. Our best advice is to give your current computer a try. You can alwyas purchase a new computer once you are on campus.

In general, if your satisfied with the speed of your computer, have a reasonable amount of free hard disk space, and meet the above conditions, then you should be able to get by.

 

MS Office Available for Students

MS Office 2007 will be available to all HKS students. Stop by the computer lab if you need a copy for your laptop. Mac Office 2008 is also available.
