The Kokkalis Foundation was established in 1998 as a non-profit organization in Athens, Greece. It carries a broad regional vision which aims to contribute to many areas of the public, social, and cultural life in Southeastern and East-Central Europe, by undertaking actions that enrich the human capital in the region and build links between various institutions with parallel goals.

Specifically, the Kokkalis Foundation aims to assist in:

• Exploring the potential of the emerging society of knowledge and information and its impact in today’s post-industrialist society and economy.

• Building networks for peace for the promotion of political and economic cooperation throughout Europe.

• Supporting the civil society and the autonomous associations for social initiatives in local, national, regional, and international level, as well as the formation of new cultural identities based on common values and aspirations.

• Promoting research and training in the fields of public policy, international politics, telecommunications, medicine and sports.

• Organizing seminars and scientific meetings, publishing related studies, and providing awards in the aforementioned disciplines.
