 POLITICAL DATA
Legal system > Based on the 1994 Constitution. The Transdnistrian region declared independence in 1995, which the central government has not recognized. Gagauz Yeri, the region inhabited by the Gagauz minority, was granted special legal status in December 1994.

National legislature > Unicameral Parliament, or Parlamentul, with 101 members. Proportional representation; only parties gaining more than 6% of the popular vote are eligible for seats.
