Applauding a Vision
What a treat it was to read in the most recent edition of the Bulletin about West Point graduate and Cameroon army captain Emmanuel Nouga-Ngog MPA2 2007 (“Military Professionalism — A Student's vision for Cameroon,” Bulletin, winter 2007).
Kennedy School alumni in the Washington, DC, area were probably not surprised to read of his passion for global security and his commitment to greater international cooperation on counterterrorism and economic development, especially between the United States and African nations.
This is because last summer Emmanuel was selected for a KSG-in-DC Summer Stipend Scholarship, a small amount of supplemental funding given by the DC-area Kennedy School Alumni Council in support of a current or graduating Kennedy School student who is furthering their educational or professional development in our nation's capital for the summer.
The volunteers on the DC Alumni Council chose Emmanuel because he so clearly embodies the Kennedy School vision of creative and cross-boundary solutions to the world’s most vexing problems. Your profile of Emmanuel and the other students featured in the piece captured this spirit beautifully.
