Energy Policy at Harvard

Coal gasification isn’t the only energy-related issue being studied at Harvard. The projects — some based in science, some in policy, some in economics, some in technology, and some in all of these — address energy and its consequences on a global scale. From air pollution and global warming to energy security, energy regulation, interactions with economic development, and trade issues affected by energy, faculty working with the Harvard University Center on the Environment have recently been expanding connections across schools and disciplines in an effort to increase the reach and impact of the research. Their efforts are part of a new Harvard-wide initiative being started that Kennedy School Professor Bill Hogan says is an “attempt to have a better interdisciplinary approach to energy policy challenges at Harvard.” Hogan was recently named the Raymond Plank Professor of Global Energy Policy and is involved in the planning.
