Welcome to the 2006-2007 KSG rowing season...
KSG Rowing is a fun way for both the veteran rower to further develop his/her
skills and the individual who has never rowed the chance to feel the excitement
of rowing on the Charles River…
…Experience a Harvard tradition.
Announcements for the week of September 18:
First meeting Wednesday, September 20th in Weiner auditorium,
6:30pm.
For all those that are interested in rowing, or
are returning for last year, come Wednesday to find out more about the club,
sign up for membership, pay club dues, and contribute ideas to this year’s
planners.
Want to get on the water ASAP?
here’s what you have to do first:
**Pay club dues. $45 for the year, best
deal on the river! Make checks out to Harvard University (note: CREW) and give
to any of the club officers (see contact info). You can also
bring it to the meeting or to the first week of rowing.
**Get your Harvard swim card. Go to the MAC any time the pool is open
and tell the front desk that you would like to do the swim test. They will let
you in free and a life guard will administer the test. Be prepared to swim 100
yards, any stroke. They will hand you a blue card. DO NOT LOSE IT. You need
it every time you row.
**Look for an email to sign up to row. The instructions to sign up will
be in the email. Most rowing times are 7:15-8:30, M-F. Don’t worry--you’ll be
able to make your 8:40 class.
Learn to Row (LTR)
We will be holding LTR sessions again this fall.
If you have no rowing experience, or have not rowed in a while, these classes
are for you! They will teach you everything you need to know to row in an
eight.
**You’ll learn how to row, commands used in the boats, and common crew
terminology important for staying safe on the water.
**LTR instructor will advise you when you are ready to sign up for a novice
boat. Usually take about 6 sessions with no prior experience.
**$45 to participate. Make checks out to Harvard University (note: CREW) and
bring to first meeting, give to any of the officers, or bring to first LTR
session. NOTE: you must also pay the $45 membership fee.
Help wanted!
Interested in getting involved in club
leadership? Please contact Jessica Muterspaugh or Ward Zimmerman for more
information.
Do you have ideas for the club?
Please be sure to pass them on to the club officers. If you think you know a
better way to do things or have an activity for the club, do not hesitate to
contact the club presidents. We welcome all ideas, complaints, inquiries, etc.
Where does all that money go?
So you are paying $45 dollars to row with us,
which is a great deal, you’ll admit, but where does it go? Well, we must pay
our wonderful coxswains and coaches for their help making us better rowers,
motivating us, and keeping us safe on the river. We are also buying a boat so
we can get more people on the water more often. If you have anymore questions
like this, please ask!
