Alumni Library Services

Kennedy School Library

HKS alumni are welcome to use the library during regular hours. On weekends, building access is through the courtyard entrance and photo identification is required. An HKS special borrower's card is available to HKS alumni who wish to borrow materials from the Kennedy School Library only. Application forms are available at the Circulation Desk. Please allow one hour for processing of the application.

Widener Library

The HCL Library Privileges Office at Widener Library grants various library cards to alumni, depending on the nature of the visit: temporary pass, stacks access, limited borrowing and regular borrowing. Fees apply for a Special Borrower card. For more information on alumni library privileges, please consult the Widener Library web site or visit the Library Privileges Office on the first floor of Widener Library.

Electronic Resources

Harvard Libraries subscribe to electronic resources such as Lexis/Nexis and Academic Search Premier for the research needs of current Harvard faculty, students and staff. Walk-in access is permitted on the Kennedy School Library's public workstations, as per library access policies. Remote access is restricted to holders of current Harvard IDs and PINs due to contractual agreements with vendors. HOLLIS, Harvard's online library catalog, is searchable from anywhere in the world.

Proquest

The Harvard Kennedy School Library has arranged for a special HKS alumni subscription to Proquest, a database of over 2,000 periodicals. Searching the collection and displaying abstracts is free of charge. Access to the full-text of articles requires a subscription of $99.00 a year. Details and the "Account Request" link are available on the HKS alumni site.
