Customized Research Consultations available for all HKS Students, Staff & Faculty

Can you answer Yes to any of the following questions?

3) Are you wondering if the research you found online is accurate and reliable?

4) Do you want to learn new strategies for being an efficient and effective researcher so that you focus on the writing  portion of your paper?

5) Are you having difficulty organizing and managing your citations?

6) Would you like to learn research strategies that will be beneficial for your career?

If you answered Yes to any of the previous questions, stop Googling immediately. Contact an HKS Librarian for a research consultation today! A HKS Librarian can recommend research strategies, demonstrate citation management tools and provide advice on the best sources of information  for your specific assignment.

Email a HKS Librarian at library_research@hks.harvard.edu to schedule an appointment. Or,  stop by the Circulation desk at the HKS Library from Monday-Friday 9-6PM and ask if a Research Librarian is available to meet with you.  By appointment, HKS Research Librarians can also meet with small groups of HKS students or staff.

E-Resources: Africa Portal (A Free Digital Library of African Policy Articles)

The Africa Portal, an initiative of the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) and the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA), is an open access digital resource that contains an online library collection of over 5,000 policy-related journal articles and publications relating to African policy issues. A directory of scholars and practitioners, a discussion blog, an opinion section features shorter-form commentary on policy issues in Africa and a calendar of international events is also included on the site.

Directory of Open Access Books web site

The Directory of Open Access Books (DOAR) site is an award- winning web site that provides a searchable index for full-text Open Access academic monographs.  The DOAB site provides access  to peer-reviewed monographs and edited volumes published under an Open Access business model, with links to the full texts of the publications on the publisher’s website or repository. Produced by the OAPEN Foundation (Open Access Publishing in European Networks), the site is keyword searchable or can be browsed by title, subject or publisher. Over two hundred books are retrieved in full-text if you browse by the subject “Law and political science.” A significant number of books retrieved through the site are published in foreign languages including Dutch, German and Italian.

Premium subscription to Financial Times Site for Harvard community

Responsible Investor (RI) is the only dedicated news service reporting on responsible investment, ESG (environmental, social and governance) and sustainable finance issues for institutional investors globally.

Academic Search Alumni Edition – Now Available to All Alumni!

To support the work of HKS alumni around the world, the Library now provides access to EBSCO’s Academic Search Alumni Edition. This resource provides full-text for more than 3,350 journals as well as indexing and abstracting for more than 8,200 journals. It covers many areas of academic study including public policy, international affairs, economics, environment, religion, education, the sciences, and more. Over 3000 of the journals included in full-text are peer-reviewed.  To register for free access, please email library_research@hks.harvard.edu.

Beginning this fall, registration and access to Academic Search Alumni Edition will be through the Alumni Relations and Resource Development extranet.

New E-Resource: CQ HealthBeat

CQ HealthBeat contains health news from Congressional Quarterly including information about recent and upcoming hearings on health-related issues and links to health legislation and regulation.

Knowledge Mosaic contains industry news, research, guidance, and current awareness on matters pertaining to federal regulation and disclosure.

Orbis is a database of information covering 60 million companies worldwide.

Tax Analysts Web Services provides federal, state, and international tax news and analysis as well as administrative documents, court opinions, and news archives by country.
