Course Reserves
Requesting items on Course Reserves
Use the online submission form (HKS login required) to request putting materials on reserve at the HKS Library. The submission form will contain Reserves information from previous semester, if available.
Processing Time
Reserve requests are processed in the order in which they are received. Reserve processing may take up to three weeks if items need to be purchased or recalled.
Library Purchase Guidelines
The Library will order books that are not in our collection for required readings only. If any single item (book, video, CD ROM) costs $175 or more, approval must be obtained from the Academic Dean. In addition, the Academic Dean must approve any request for eight or more new, individual items for a single course (multiple copies of the same item are considered as only one individual item).
Link to Journal Articles
Many journal articles on Reserves are available online through the Harvard Libraries’ collection of electronic resources. Providing links to these resources ultimately saves students money, since the copyright fees are already included in Harvard Libraries' subscription costs.
Please fill out this form to request library staff create links for all course-related readings available online from library licensed databases or freely available websites.
