Short CV
After obtaining the International Baccalaureate Diploma in Wroclaw, Poland, Malgorzata Steiner studied law with a focus on International and European Law as well as European Legal Practice Integrated Studies (ELPIS) in Hanover, Madrid and Berlin. She wrote her masters thesis in ELPIS on Good Governance in Development Cooperation between European Union and Africa-, Carribean- and Pacific States and gained work experience in the Latin America Department of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). After she graduated in law (2nd in the class of 850), she worked for the GTZ in the implementation of an international conference on sustainable rural development, convened by The European Commission, the German Presidency of the European Union and the Global Donor Platform for Rural Development.

From 2005 to 2007, she was coordinator of the Forum International Cooperation for Sustainable Development (f.ize) – a student network of more than 1000 members, supported by the GTZ and the German National Academic Foundation, bringing together outstanding students with decision makers from private or public sector in order to encourage intensive round-table discussions. As a fellow of the “Studienkolleg zu Berlin” she conducted a one year project on the role of external actors in the democratization of Serbia. In 2006 she was appointed a member of the Working Group on Arts and Science of the Federal Government, established during the National Integration Summit in July 2006 to formulate a National Action Plan promoting the integration of international students and researchers into the German universities and job market.

In the future, she would like to work on supporting democratic and institutional reforms, especially in developing countries and on external relations and development cooperation of the European Union.
