Philipp Rotmann, Master of Public Administration Candidate, is also a Fellow at the Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi), an independent think tank based in Berlin and Geneva where he worked for three years. His research at GPPi includes organizational learning and doctrine development in United Nations peace operations, international police assistance in conflict environments and counterinsurgency, as well as energy security and global energy governance. He commented on these topics in the International Herald Tribune and on the BBC, and his work has been published in various academic journals.

Earlier in his career, he spent three years as a project manager and team leader in the IT industry. During his undergraduate studies, Philipp interned with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Bosnia-Herzegovina. He holds a B.A. from the University of Erfurt, Germany, where he studied "Staatswissenschaften" (economics, political science and law), and an M.A. in International Relations from Humboldt University Berlin, the Free University Berlin and the University of Potsdam. In 2004/05, he spent an academic year at the University of Essex (UK) focusing on development economics and international security.
