| Alexander Schellong
Alexander Schellong received his masters in political
science and economics from the Johann
Wolfgang Goethe-University, Frankfurt am Main, Germany. In his
master thesis he examined citizens preferences towards One-Stop
Government and collaborative CRM in the public sector in cooperation
with the Siemens
AG. Between 2004 and 2007 Alexander was a doctoral student at
the Institute
for Methodology III– Qualitative Methods and Software Engineering
of Dieter
Mans at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University, Faculty of Social
Sciences. The title of his dissertation is "Citizen Relationship
Management - A Study of CRM in Goverment" and includes in-depth
case studies on the understanding, implementation and effects of
CiRM on Miami/Dade
County, New York
City, Baltimore
and Chicago
.. His research was supported by the Goethe-University graduate
student scholarship. He was a Research Fellow at Harvard's National
Center for Digital Government directed by Jane
Fountain (now at UMass Amherst) from 2004-2005 and is now a
fellow at its successor, the Program for Networked Governance directed
by David Lazer. While at Harvard,
he focuses on the theoretical and empirical part of his thesis which
includes For the Fall term 2006/07 Alexander was a Research Scholar
at The University
of Tokyo working with Hideaki
Shiroyama and
Hirokazu Okumura on networked governance, CiRM, SNS and disaster
management. He is currently a teaching a course on eGovernment at
Goethe- University and is on the team that develops a strategy to
introduce an N-1-1 type networked non-emergency government service
center solution to Germany (115
Bürgerservice). In addition he advises governments in the
area of eGovernment, CRM, citizen-orientation and Web20.
Through national and international internships
he gained professional experience in the field of marketing, ebusiness,
public sector eprocurement or consulting. Furthermore, he worked
three years as an assistant at the very first chair
for electronic commerce at a German university. There he was
a project manager for an internet based facility management solution
for the Goethe-University. From 1995 to 2004 he ran his own small
business (HauLongDesign)
with the focus on web design, advertising and marketing. Alexander
is also an active member of the Steuben-Schurz
Society which is Germany’s largest non-profit organization
of German-American friend- and partnership. He was co-chair of the
9th European
Career Fair @ MIT held in January 2005. Besides his research,
he is the Director of Communications at PNG.
