The Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs will host a Director's Seminar with Rolf Mowatt-Larssen, in the Belfer Center Library (L369).
Rolf arrives at Belfer Center having recently completed visits in the U.S. focused on combatting Biological Terrorism. A career intelligence officer whose last government duty was Director of Intelligence and Counterintelligence at the U.S. Department of Energy, Rolf has served at the highest levels in the intelligence community both abroad and in Washington, DC. Rolf led intelligence efforts to discover and neutralize Al Qaeda’s WMD plans and, as a Senior Fellow at Belfer Center he continued that work.
As a resident Senior Fellow Rolf revealed the depth of terrorist WMD efforts toward a nuclear capability in thought provoking reports, such as Islam and the Bomb and Al Qaeda Weapons of Mass Destruction Threat: Hype or Reality? He was the lead U.S. author of the The U.S.-Russia Joint Threat Assessment on Nuclear Terrorism, a ground breaking document between former senior officials of both governments detailing the danger of the threat.
Rolf graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and, following his service in the Army, joined the Central Intelligence Agency, where he served for over 23 years in various domestic and international posts. He is a recipient of the CIA Director's Award, the George W. Bush Award for Excellence in Counterterrorism, the Secretary of Energy's Exceptional Service Medal, the Distinguished Career Intelligence Medal, Secretary of Defense Civilian Distinguished Service Medal, and the National Intelligence Superior Performance Medal, among others.As space is limited for this event, RSVPs will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.
