Carr Talk: A Backlash Against Human Rights in Latin America?

Join us for this weeks "Carr Talk and Coffee," where students, faculty and staff get together to discuss their research/work/interests! Coffee and donuts are provided, and introductions will be followed by this weeks presentation from Carr Center Associate Leonardo Vivas: Title: A Backlash Against Human Rights in Latin America? After democratization began in Latin America after around 1978, one can isolate two periods: one, corresponding to the establishment of democratic regimes across the board, where human rights advanced at a quick pace; and a second, where the trends are more mixed: advances in some areas, setbacks in others. So, can we speak about a backlash?
